The increasing internet traffic from cell phones is having an impact on search engines as well. Now, there is an effort being made to facilitate the process of entering a search into a search engine from a mobile phone. This is being dong by offering the person who is searching a suggestions based on the characters already typed in. in this way the user can select from a list of suggestions the term or phrase he is looking for.
The advantage of this system is manifold. Firstly it can save time for entering the search, which can be a fairly drawn-out process on a 9-key pad. Secondly, it can suggest to the user a better term or phrase than the one he had originally conceived of. And thirdly it is simply impressive on the part of the search engine that they are capable of such things.
